Hi,
I would like to recomend this book called "The phantom voyagers".
Is about the influence of Indonesian sailors that colonized Madagascar and who were very influential in East Africa. It seems they were part of a movement of peoples, both natives and foreigners, that developed the southern part of Africa hundred of years before the arrival of Islam.
Is a fascinating book, very especulative in certain parts and quite solid in others. I was fascinated by the author's explaination of the Great Zimbabwe, for example. I was also surprised by the suggestion the "marimba" and other musical instruments have Indonesian influence.
The book's site is this one.

And can be acquired by amazon England.
