Given the location, I used to think that she may have had some recent African ancestry on her mother's side (her father is Lebanese), but perusing Wikipedia, it turns out her mother is of Italian and Catalan ancestry. Oh well. They do look alike sort of, and Shakira has certain "physical attributes" associated with black women. I suppose the common European ancestry they both have may account for their similar appearance or maybe it's due to good makeup jobs prior to the video's filming.
