Hi all, I am looking for a forum or board for Mestizo's or that talks about Mestizo people. I don't understand Spanish and am still learning about that part of me, so I'd prefer in English. If you could help me I would be greatly appreciated.

That's difficult because most communications between Latinos is in Spanish. Besides, believe me or not, there is nothing similar to a "mestizo" identity. People is Cuban, Mexican or Guatemalan, and not Mestizo or White.

Now, in English the closest you have to a "Mestizo" identity is the "La Raza" organization of Chicanos. They have some interesting ideas and they communicate in English.

Here you have a Chicano forum in the U.S.
Those are descendents of Mexicans and other Latinos that have lived for more than a generation in the U.S.. They usually don't speak Spanish and are sort of disconected with the realities of Latin America.
It is interesting, though, theirs problems and worldview.

Well hello there, Ms./Mr. Jodie. Very Happy

*big smile*

Niece or Nephew, here's another link for you to enjoy. Smile

http://www.nclr.org/

Also you may enjoy MTV Tres. Here's a link to MTV Tres.
http://www.mtv.com/mtvsites/mtvtr3s/ Plenty of Latinos now
speak nothing but English. It's a whole new world and the future
of our nation is a good one for all of our people of every race,
color, creed, size, gender, age, and national origin. Life is good. Very Happy

Just don't go trying to change the people. The people are fine just
the way they are. Often when folks are nice enough to welcome
new people in, the new people get busy trying to reshape the ones
already there, instead of doing the work to learn to fit in & become
a part of their new welcoming culture. Most of us seem to think it's
easier to change others, than to do the work to change ourselves.
That causes resentment and eventual rejection or marginality. And
then the next generation has to go through the same struggles all
over again, because we didn't do the work & pay the dues for them. Cool

If you want to be rejected, go trying to change the people or trying
to teach them all your wisdom. Folks don't want to change. They
were doing just fine before you got there. Remember, you're a
guest among them, and you'll do just fine. Just like you and I want
acceptance, so do the folks who are nice enough to welcome us. Very Happy

Do the work, and you'll be blessed beyond your wildest dreams.
And don't expect to be loved and accepted. The only reason
anybody is ever loved and wanted is because of what we have
to offer. Be a giver, not a taker, and the world will open to you. Smile

Be patient and put in the years. It'll be worth it in the end. Otherwise,
just stay where an often uncaring society has placed you, and save
yourself the work. Nothing is easy. Ask any immigrant. A more
fitting life for ourselves and our progeny takes good hard effort. Laughing

Good luck. Blessings are in store for you beyond your wildest dreams.
And remember, always be a foreigner, always be a guest. Never ever
pretend to be one of the people. Just be what you are; their Multiracial
friend. Folks love honesty. Multiracial is your heritage. Represent (smile).
Do us proud. There's a wonderful world awaiting you (big smile). Enjoy. Cool

And if you have Iberian in your heritage, as you do, that's a definite
plus. Yet even if you didn't, still, eventually you'll automatically be
one of the people anyway. But let it come on it's own (smile). And it
will. The earth is spacious and our Mother the Earth never abandons
her children. There is a place for each of us, and none of us has to
be forever subjected to societal abuse. Life is much too short for that. Smile

Be loyal to those who accept the you, that you and your ancestry truly
are; and forgive those who were always unable to accept you and
your ancestry as it truly is. And never ever forget to be loving, kind,
and compassionate to all people of all races, colors, creeds, sizes,
ages, genders, and national origins. Do us proud (big smile). I know
you will. I'm praying for you and all of our young folks. Good luck. Very Happy

I wish the very best for Mr. or Ms. Jodie as he or she seeks
to connect with more and more of his or her Mestizo heritage. Very Happy

What an exciting challenge Life is. What a fun adventure,
with all of its many trials and tribulations; its ups and its
downs. And all these many terms we have such as Mestizo,
Mulatto, African American, Latino, Chicano, Male, Female,
Parent, Child, Multiracial, Triracial Isolate, Cousin, Family,
Native American Indian, Indigenous. They are all good terms,
and they all have their place in life. They are a gift to us.
Words are sacred, and they are there waiting for those of
us to whom they apply. I may be wrong, but this is life as
I understand it; and as it has been explained to me. With
our words and our choices, we choose to be happy or sad;
to sit tearfully, or to rise up & find where we fit best in life. Smile

Quote:
What does the term “La Raza” mean?
The term “La Raza” has its origins in early 20th century Latin American literature and translates into English most closely as “the people,” or, according to some scholars, “the Hispanic people of the New World.” The term was coined by Mexican scholar José Vasconcelos to reflect the fact that the people of Latin America are a mixture of many of the world’s races, cultures, and religions. Some people have mistranslated “La Raza” to mean “The Race,” implying that it is a term meant to exclude others. In fact, the full term coined by Vasconcelos, “La Raza Cósmica,” meaning the “cosmic people,” was developed to reflect not purity but the mixture inherent in the Hispanic people. This is an inclusive concept, meaning that Hispanics share with all other peoples of the world a common heritage and destiny.
________ National Council of La Raza Surprised Very Happy Smile

What an exciting time to be alive. Nobody anywhere on
our planet must be forever subjected to societal abuse
or to being made to feel invisible or unwanted. The earth
belongs to us all, and all of our planet's people are one
family. We seek until we find those who are loving and
accepting, while leaving the others in peace. Enjoy life. Very Happy

Yes, the Earth is spacious, and Our Mother The Earth surely
never abandons her children. The polar bear finds a place,
the grizly bear finds a place; as do the eagle and the fish.
Our Mother has this earth here for the happiness of her
children, but we must seek until we find; and her gifts are
usually right under our noses; waiting to be uncovered by us. Smile

By the way, here's another perhaps enjoyable link: Click Here. Laughing

Yes, life is a beautiful adventure, even with all its many ups and
downs. It always warms my heart to see you, our young, seeking
out more and more of your various equally beautiful heritages.
May prayers and good thoughts travel with each of you who are,
or will be someday doing so. We older ones among you are so very
proud of each of you. Your ancestors are, too. Keep doing us proud. Very Happy
