Is there any truth to common conceptions about race and hair?:
1) Male pattern baldness, is a European trait.
2) Native Americans don't grow facial hair.
3) Africans grow little, or less body hair than Europeans. |

| Not just Amerindians, but Asians are also known for not growing lots of facial hair. You dont see too many Asian men on the streets with a Grizzly Adams type beard. |

Native Americans don't grow beard, unless their mixed with Caucasoids.

The only Mongoloids that are hairy are the Ainu. |

Not true. Some NorthWest Pacific Coast Natives groups do grow spars beards - heavy beards,
Chiook, Tillamook, Eyak, Coast Salish, and the Tlingit & Eskimo
And the Inuit of the North(Canada)
There are over 500 Nations(native ethnic groups in North America not counting Mexico)
Africans don't grw hair at all like Asians.
They grow mustaches and some bodyhair on the forearms and legs. At least some of the images of W.Africans:Ghana, Ivory Coast, Côte d'Ivoire, I've only seen it on older men though
The only Mongoloids that are hairy are the Ainu. |
the guy has hair on his forearms and this is generally how it looks when I see photos of men from Ghana, I've only seen a few photos of the (older)mens leg
Inuit
Eskimo
This is the artwork commonly found in the NW groups, to help those of you get a sense of direction. Beautiful works.
first occupants of Orcas and the other San Juan Islands spoke the Northern Straits language. Descendants of these early people are present day members of the Lummi, Samish, Songhees, and Saanich Nations.

Just based on observation and experience, Native Americans, East Asians and Khoisan people tend to have less facial and body hair then other groups. Within both Europeans, Africans, South Asians and Middle Easterners there is huge intra-group variation.
It comes down to genetics, and if we are talking about terminal hair as opposed to vellus, specifically the hair follicule's sensitivity to dihydrotestosterone.
Since it is all related to the hair follicule's sensitivity to DHT, you might expect that the more hairy the population, the greater the prevalence of male pattern baldness. I don't know if this is true. |

Very intersting pictures indeed. I have heard that people of African decent usually have little to no facial hair. Also many of the African people I have seen they usually have no body hair, but some have facial hair.
I have never knew of Native Americans that can grow heavy beards. Also the Inuit grow full beards, well the ones in the coasts grow sparse bears much like the Chinese and other East Asians. |

| Wow. I never noticed differences in the amount of body and facial hair. Now I'm African American, but I have lots of hair on my arms and legs. So does that mean it's the result of genes from non-Africans in my family? |

I think it depends, if you are visually mixed or know of recent admixture in your family...
Some Africans do have a bit more hair on their arms and legs: Nigerians
I'm the only one of my brothers and dad with hair on my body/face
I can grown a beard have hair that blonds in the summer on my arms and hair on my legs my siblings can only grow a mustach and hair on the chin (they hate that they can't get enough to grow a gotea) my dad can grow one. His brother is hair like a northern European. My dads hair is curly but it grows out like a fro, his brothers hair is much curlier/straighter and grows downflowing. |

| Yeah, I'm visually mixed. Light skinned, hazel eyed. But my hair still grows into a standard fro. Very kinky. Lots of facial hair. |
