There is a difference between what people's perceptions are and the reality of it all. Obama is no more of a Black man than he is a White man. No matter what people say. |
It always amazes me when people make remarks as these. Of course Obama is half White and half Black or rather ‘half American White’ and ‘half Kenyan Black.’ Who knows: his mother’s side might have ONE ore more drops of Black Blood and his father might have a distant White ancestor, with all this British colonialism raging in Kenya. So we can get very mathematical about this.
The reality however, as I see it, is that America is a racist state where white supremacy is a fact of live. As I was shocked to read in this forum site that some States, towns and areas are a no-go if you are Black and coloured. It makes me wonder just what kind of ‘social justice’ America is spreading around the world, as these horrid things are still countenanced in America itself.
White’s are supposed to be this superior being so every precaution is taken that it works out and is perceived this way. Just like men are still perceived as superior then women and have all the privileges in the world, no matter how stupid and weak they might be. Even female foetuses are under threat and the language discriminates against women, as it does against Blacks. In colonial times the Europeans would consciously create a mulatto middle class, even taken their half White offspring away from the influences of their Black, Indian, Amer Indian, Indonesian, what have you, mothers. Their mother's names were sometimes even omitted from the Birth- and Christening registers. So colour became a sign of loyalty to the status quo.
I’m beginning to see Obama, to be used by the establishment as a kind of brown lubricant to shaft the Americans with a new war against Iran. So the rich Americans can be richer from the spoils of war. Somehow the Blacks will be again, but more deviously be manipulated to belief that the American Dream is also their dream, and readily register for soldier duties, because they now might have a Black president.

Hmph interesting...the author is right, and I agree.
Morally wise I agree.
That aside though Obama can label himself however he chooses, everyone should have the right to that. Heck if Lou Dobbs wanted to be Mexican tommorow I'd also support that.
I'd prefer if Obama was more original though and ID'd as he really is, and that's mixed. |

What do you mean, "as he really is"? |

This is not correct. Obama is like the " 50/50" candidate, ( possibility he also has native american from many generations back from his mother side), but he definetaly is not the first " mixed race".
Bill Clinton had a Cherokee grandmother, so genetically speaking, he is a Mestizo, and if the one-drop rule were to be applied to white-native american mixtures as well, like the media is applying to Obama. He wouldn't even be White at all, he would just be " The Native-American president".
Other presidents from the 19th century too, had admixtures, even SS AFro,. President Hayes, I think, even Martin Van Buren.
So I don't know why " Obama" is the only one singled out as the " only and fist mixed race guy for president" out there. There journalist have to do some research before they write their articles. |

I think that it is because of the conflict between the U.S. notion of "race" as being genetic, and the equally popular notion that it is a voluntary ethnic self-identity. When people say that he is the first Black major-party presidential candiate, they are thinking of the second idea. Specifically, that he is the first one to clearly embrace an exclusively African-American self-identity.
I disagree that many journalists refer to him as "mixed." If they did, they would be corrected by the candidate and his staff. He has made clear that, although he acknowledges Euro ancestry, he does not consider himself mixed or biracial. He considers himself Black. |

Your prejudices are apparent with statements like these with regard to American politics and the so called conspiracy theories regarding the war. A couple of quick facts, Michael Moore isn't a documentary maker but a sensationalist and Thierry Meyssan is a liar as well.

As far as blacks being manipulated, while no doubt there are severe racial problems in the US, at least in the Army blacks are much more integrated and hold high ranks and have sent many whites to their grave in the call of duty. Remember too the US Army is voluntary and I joined just like many people did - because we didn't have a lot of money and wanted to serve our country. |

| Question to people who think Obama being considered black is normal. What if he wanted to be considered white? |

Cannot find the posting with which Sir Alcal messed up. I'm curious. There should be a general system to get to the crime scene in a more easy way. This would surely instill the fear of god into people. |
