Ok,Dragon horse has said that Obama have called himself " a multiracial Black man", to me that an oxymoron, like somebody saying " a Black man with a White mother".
The question is, is teaching at U.S public schools " Obama is the first Black president", institutionalizing One-droppism in the American school system??
What suggestions do people have here, to make a " balance" view on Obama's racial background in American schools??
Perhaps, students should be taught about " biological race" and " sociological race"? that way " multiracial Black man" makes sense to children? Obama saying he is biologically biracial, but sociologically Black(African American)?

I don't see the problem with the "multiracial black man" statement as I know more than few black people with a single non-black parent.

And calling him something other than what he prefers to be called would be better?

Balanced view? Is it currently out of balance?

Personally I am telling my kids that race was something made up by rich people a long long time ago in order to prevent rebellion & prevent unification amongst economically disadvantaged people and that it does not exist just like the monster under the bed.

Like I said before, I grew up reading in text books that various African American and black leaders were mixed or had a black parent and a white parent. We also learned about Creoles as seperate from African Americans in general.
When I did a faux book cover on Saint-Domingue when I was in elementary school, I drew a picture of Toussaint L'Oveture with a black crayon, and gens de couleur libre with both black and brown crayons. Everyone got what I was talking about, including my black teacher.
*shrug*

The interesting thing is, a lot of biracial people I know who identify as black often get called "biracial" by other black people, even if they identify as black exclusively. For instance, I went to school with two girls who had the same name, let's just call them Kisha for right now.
One was black (family from the Carribean and the US) and the other was mixed (not biracial). Both wanted to be called black, but when other friends were confused about which Kisha I was talking about, they would say, "Mixed Kisha or Black Kisha?"
Sometimes a black friend or acquaintance will come up to me and say "You're black and something else, right?" And I'll say, "No, I'm just black" but they'll insist on bringing out my genetic history for no real reason. White people almost always call me black, no questions asked.
Just points I'm bringing up. Hopefully they'll help in the conversation.
