About two and a half years ago, we heard Will Smith endorse T.I. as, well, the next him, while the former was promoting 2006’s ATL. Smith, of course, had some take in ATL’s box office outcome, as it was one of the first features, not starring Will Smith, that he and Jada’s Overbrook Entertainment produced.

Smith heralded T.I. (born Clifford Joseph Harris) for his natural screen presence, versatility, charisma, and work ethic, going so far as to assert that T.I. had the potential to become a major Hollywood player within the next five years. The irony wasn’t lost on us. Squeaky-clean, sitcom-starring, profane-rap-criticizing Will Smith was attempting to pass an entertainment torch to the felonious, drug-dealing, Parental Advisory Stamp-bearing T.I.?

Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., (born September 25, 1980),[1] better known by his stage name T.I., and also by his alter ego T.I.P., is an American rapper, songwriter, producer, actor, and co-CEO of Grand Hustle Records.[2] As of January 2009, T.I. has had nine Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 singles, with three of them reaching number one ("My Love" with Justin Timberlake, "Whatever You Like" and "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna).

T.I. released his sixth album Paper Trail on September 30, 2008. The title of the album refers to the lyrics he had written down on paper. Like many other rappers, T.I. abandoned this style of rapping after his debut album I'm Serious by just memorizing lyrics. "He wanted to take more time to really put something down [this time]," explained his rep.[16] The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 selling 568,000 copies in the United States.[17]

The first promo single off the album, "No Matter What," was released on April 29, 2008. The music video was released on June 27 on MTV's FN Premieres. The second promo single was "Swing Ya Rag" which was produced by and featured Swizz Beatz.[18] The first main single off the album "Whatever You Like," was released on July 29, and became his most successful single of his career so far, breaking the record for the highest jump to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, jumping from #71 to #1. It is T.I.'s first solo number one on the chart. The subsequent single "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna, T.I. broke his own record on the Billboard Hot 100 when it jumped from number 80 to the number one.

In 2006 T.I. starred in his first film, ATL. The other cast members included Lauren London, Antoine Patton, Evan Ross, Mykelti Williamson, Jason Weaver, and Keith David. The movie was written by Tina Gordon Chism and Antwone Fisher, produced by Timothy M. Bourne, Tionne Watkins, and Will Smith, and directed by Christopher Robinson. T.I. played the character Rashad Swann, an orphaned 17-year-old senior in high school. In its opening weekend, the film grossed a total of $11.5 million, ranking third in the United States box office, and went on to gross $21.2. It grossed a million nationwide.[19]

T.I. also appeared in American Gangster with fellow rappers Common and RZA.[20] and was featured on the soundtrack.[21]

According to HHNLive.com T.I. revealed that he is launching Grand Hustle Films. The first project from the movie division of his Grand Hustle brand is titled Once Was Lost. T.I. will star in the film alongside veteran Hollywood actor Danny Glover, who will also act as producer. Filming is scheduled to begin in October 2008.[22]

In September 2008, T.I. appeared as himself in the Entourage episode "The All Out Fall Out" as one of Ari Gold's clients.

In addition to helping with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, T.I. worked with troubled youths at Paulding Detention Center in Atlanta, provided scholarships for single parent families at Boys and Girls Clubs, and headlined the Boost Mobile Rockcorps concert at New York's Radio City Music Hall, which featured such performers as Fat Joe, Slim Thug, and Kanye West, and was held exclusively for community service volunteers. As part of his community service time, T.I. has come to a number of middle-grade and high schools in Georgia, where he speaks with the students in an assembly holding a positive message, while maintaining a philathropic view about morals and growing up in the same areas as himself.

ATLANTA — A judge on Tuesday ordered rapper T.I. to pay more child support to the mother of two of his children after she claimed he wasn’t providing enough money.

Superior Court Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane told the two-time Grammy winner, whose real name is Clifford Harris, to pay just over $3,000 a month to LaShon Dixon. He had been paying about $2,000 per month.

The judge also said the 27-year-old performer must continue to pay for the boys to attend private school, uninsured medical bills and expenses related to the children’s extracurricular activities.

Tipton Lane also awarded the couple on Tuesday joint custody of the boys, ages 7 and 8. Dixon, 28, was granted primary physical custody. The children previously spent about 40 percent of their time with the rapper.

Dixon’s attorney, Randy Kessler, said his client is still unsatisfied with the amount the judge ordered T.I. to pay but is happy to receive more child support.

“Every little bit helps,” Kessler said. “She was just getting by with the children, while they lived a different life with their father. It can’t be complete opposites on the other side.”

An e-mail to one of T.I.’s lawyers was not immediately returned Tuesday.

He also has two sons with his fiancee, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, of the defunct R&B group Xscape.

Well, I don't know who Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. is, but I know who T.I. is. Laughing

I really appreciate some of the lyrics from his new song, "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna. Rap keeps getting a bad rep for some of the commerical nonsense that is constantly blasted on the radio.

Quote:
What you need to do is be thankful for the life you got, know what I'm saying?
Stop looking at what you ain't got and start being thankful for what you do got.

Quote:
I got love for the game but ay I'm not in love with all of it
'Could do without the fame and rappers nowadays are comedy

The hootin' and the hollerin', back and forth with the arguing
Where you from, who you know, what you make and what kind of car you in
Seems as though you lost sight of what’s important with the positive
And checks into your bank account and you up out of poverty

Your values in a disarray, prioritizing horribly
Unhappy with your riches cause you're piss poor morally

I would be VERY surprised if he was half white (american) half black american, though I'm sure it is a possibility. My guess is that his European admixture is multigenerational. Or possibly he has a hispanic parent who also has visible African admixture.
