Finally, whether Euro-Americans with slight African ancestry claim Whiteness or claim Blackness, I cannot see that either approach has ever worked to erode the color line. Only intermarriage can dissolve the color line itself, and this would take at least six centuries at the current rate of change.
I doubt the creation of one "race" would stop racism
Speaking biologically, our species already comprises a single "race" or variety. Indeed, genetically, we are virtually a single extended family. Also, I said nothing about "racism," neither about "stopping" it, starting it, nor leaving it alone. My words were about ending Black endogamy.

I doubt the creation of one "race" would stop racism; just look at how the Jews have been treated in Europe or the Armenians in Turkey or the Bosnian muslims in Yugoslavia. All of these groups where white but some committed genocide against the other because the latter group were viewed as subhumans.
The genocide against the Jews was motivated by envy more than by racism. Gypsies have a lot of European genetics as well. For the genetic point of view, there were not much difference at all between the Jewish and Gypsies population and the Germanic one. Europeans have always envy Jewish success and had hate Gypsy freedom. That hate cristilize in the largest genocide the world has known.
However, there is no better way to integrate a society when people have a different look than intermarriage. Love is more powerful that hate. And integration is really possible.

So, I don't hold much hope for amalgation of "races" to solve "racism." People will always form some tribe that they view as superior to another. A psycho gets in power and manipulates the petty jealousies and bigotries and bingo! we have ethic cleansing.
There are lots of forms of discrimination besides racism: ethnic discrimination (historic background and customs of peoples), religious, political, language, nationality, etc. Admixture only solve one kind of discrimination. Which is important.

Didn't someone just post an article on Germany? Since the fall of the Wall, the Germans have spent billions trying unsuccessfully to integrate the East. East German unemployment rates are sky high and young Germans are embracing neo-Nazism and blaming refugees for their sick economy and bleak prospects. (Replace Jew with Turk or Asian or African, and there's the latest societal leach keeping the Aryan down. Of course a little logic like the end of the Socialist gravy train in exchange for freedom and liberty (no Stasi, the secret police) might be worth it.)
Germans have always had a predisposition to racism and breaks of hate. A people of a "colored" race, specially Blacks, has to be crazy to go to live to Germany knowing the past of that country. It's like to be inside the mouth of the wolf.

Gypsies, who can be found in places as far away a Egypt and Iraq, have their roots in India. They migrated to Europe and other places 800 to 1,000 years ago. Physically they are very different in appearance from other Europeans.
Persecution of the Jews was motivated by religion and envy. Eventually racial reasons were employed to justify the contempt people in Europe had for them.

More than other Europeans? I'm not sure. Wasn't Germany a refuge for Jews fleeing much worse persecution in Central Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia in the years prior to the rise of the Third Reich?
