Arnold Diaz's report about a pastry shop in Greenwich Village selling what the owner called "Drunken Negro Face" cookies generated strong reactions. Hundreds of people commented on Arnold's blog. Dozens more called the store owner to express their outrage. Watch the full update.
Shame, Shame, Shame: Racist Cookies in…
Via Gothamist comes news of a well-known Greenwich Village bakery, Lafayette French Pastry, that has apparently been selling "Drunk Negro Head" cookies in honor of Barack Obama.
Said the baker to a customer: "Would you like some drunken negro heads to go with your coffee? They're in honor of our new president. He's following in the same path of Abraham Lincoln; he will get his."

Well, with as much outrage that those cookies have generated, the owner of this bakery might get his instead! (i.e. his business collapses) |

^^^^^Thanks, I did catch the story this time.
This guy's got a set of brass ones, to say the least. His "apology" is too little, too late. As I had stated on a thread concerning the Imus incident, free speech does not equal responsibility-free speech. For the time being, I do predict that this person will definitely "get his" in the form of decreased revenue for the business. IMHO, I think that the only way for him to "redeem himself" (if possible) would be the passage of time. |
