Race 'not behind health protests'

Quote:
"Are there some people who don't like me because of my race?" he said. "I'm sure there are.

"Are there some people who voted for me only because of my race? There are probably some of those too.

But he added that he thought some were "more passionate about the idea of whether government can do anything right.

"And I think that that's probably the biggest driver of some of the vitriol."

In a separate interview with CNN, Mr Obama said he did not think race was the "the overriding issue here".

He also said he was not the first president to come up against angry protests.

He is not playing the race card. He is wise to stay out of this.

Check how he answers, very funny, to this on Late Night with David Letterman tonight.

Letterman link - Obama: 'I was black before the election'

Again, another case of Barack Obama NOT playing the race card.

Obama is not "playing the race card," because he knows the consquences of doing it. I don't honestly think that he believes what he said when he stated that much of the opposition to him is not race-based.

It appears to me that some white folks have a tendancy to hide behind arguments that appear legitimate, but are masking something else. Or that they'll keep bashing a behavior or mannerism that is stereotypical of black people (for example, going on a 30-minute tirade about how much they hate "people who listen to hip hop"); they do this, just WAITING and DARING you to "play the race card," because they've got something waiting for you if you take the bait.

And THAT, I believe, is what's going on here.
