Why is it when some people give information wrong or not about SSA genetics or ancestry, some people get hostile? They don't just disagree or try to correct the person; they are down right hostile and rude about it. It seems like to them nothing could be worse than a person having some SSA ancestry. It is one thing to say if something is wrong and get information to back up your claims in a reasonable way, but to be downright rude? What's up with that?

I am 'black' myself and I get offended by centrists, leftist, racists, and nationalists who do much to distort and make claims. I am angered that people feel that they have a need to do these things when the truth is good enough. My people are only about 300-450 years old. People of African and part African descent have done enough and individuals have accomplished much on their own. Why it only needs to be studied 28 days a year, put as a separate course or only reserved for the back of the book or people who are incorrectly stated black infuriate me. Most 'black' people in America such as myself have some admixture and admit to it. The empires of Mali, the Gullah culture, and the the true identity of Crispus Attucks (black/amerindian mix), Benjamin Banneker and Frederick Douglas (mulatto), and Charles Drew (quadroon) are often questioned or never studied. It is a shame. Stuff like this is why I hate political correctness, the One Drop Rule, segregation, etc. The people who should be offended the most by all this PC centrists nonsense are 'black' americans.

It is interesting to note that many 'white' Americans do not adhere to it, but many 'black' Americans do out of some racial or ethinic solidarity. And also politics have something to do with it. That is the jist of why I have a problem with how the census is done in the US. I don't think most Americans are racists or are learning that racism, prejudice, and bigotry are wrong. But political correctness is turning back the hands of time sort of speak, just in a more overt way now. That rule has kept both blacks and whites in line in a rather cruel way. It has done nothing but demonize African ancestry and criminalize and demean those with African ancestry, specifically if one has a more African appearance. It could very well be possible that at least 20% of all 'whites' in America have some African ancestry going back at least 250 years.

I agree that many White Americans freak out when you suggest that they have African admixture due to an ancestor or two who "passed" through the color line. FWIW, my own theory as to why this is so is explained in the presentation that I gave at the Melungeon Conference in Frankfort KY, July 30, 2005, The Triumph of the One-Drop Rule.
