You are a fool, Euro-mestizos had no incentives to mix with people who were considered at the bottom of the totem pole. Horny Spaniards might have mixed with black mulata women in the Carribean. But Euro-mestizos in mostly Mestizo-Indian nations OR REGIONS would never have.
Class and race was important in Colonial Latin America.Euro-mestizos were very high in the totem pole.
Eoro-mestizos infact were considered white if they were 1/8 Amerindian.
You have heard in Latin America the saying?"mejorar la race"? "better the race",mixing with blacks would not have "mejorar la raza" since blacks were at the bottom and still are.THINK! |

Im just telling it like it is. So now the word "darkies" is offensive? In latin America Prietitos"darkies' ,negritos"blackies'is used in a good way. |
Darkie is offensive in the U.S. and darkie isn't even a rough equivalent to negrito.

They are not insecure like AA. |
Ummm, calling someone darkie in the U.S. is offensive....Kinda like calling someone in the U.S. a beaner or wetback. Or it's like using the term mayate, which is intended to be offensive in a Mexican and Chicano context. So, AA's (notice the assumption that only AAs are offended and insecure because of it) are hardly insecure for being offended when called darkie. Negrito or prietito may not be offensive in a Latin American context. Indeed it may be used as a term of endearment for people who have no visible African ancestry, but darkie can only be interpreted one way in the U.S. cultural milieu.

Well, maybe not here, but I vaguely recall you refering to some black posters on another message board as "niggies". Maybe it was another Garciaparra. |
G-man are you Afro-American? American blacks get offended for anything. Why is the word"darkie" offensive. Blacks call whites "whitey" or Crackas",you don't see white folks geting mad and calling out racism. |
No I'm not African American, but I do have enough sense to know that darkie isn't the equivalent of negrito. Oh and many whites do get offended when called whitey or cracka because they are meant to be offensive. However I doubt these people have an inferiority complex.

Let's put aside the questionable reasoning that Latinos with black ancestry don't have inferiority complexes because they don't get offended when called negrito or pretito (as if not getting offended about such things is proof that they don't have inferiority complexes). How about rolling through the Bronx or Washington Heights in New York and approaching a Puerto Rican or Dominican on the street and calling him darkie (not negrito). I guarantee you he'd be offended. Is it because he has an inferiority complex? Hardly. It's because he knows that darkie is offensive and not equivalent to negrito; even if you insist it is. |

I suggest you delete all his unsubstantiated posts. I suspect people like him don't care if they are suspended so long as they get their posts in. |
