The group of Berbers I knew covered a wide range of phenotypes, two of whom would be considered black in the USA and the NonHispanic Caribbean. I guess my point is that who is to say, as Omar does, what the Moors did or did not look like. They came in all varieties. And I do agree that because people might look a certain way doesnt mean that this is what they are. I can be mistaken for a Sudanese as an example.

Yeah you can mix two unrelated populations and end up looking like an unrelated third.
Berbers (Amazigh) are as multi-ethnic as any group today!
When Tariq, an Arabized Berber, came to Spain, he was invited by the Visigoth leader, to quell an uprising of some Germanic enemies. Tariq, seeing an opportunuty, created an empire (711-1491/2)
The various groups, be they Slavic, Syrian, Iraqi, Sanhaja (Mauritania, Mali, Morocco) all held portion of certain area of Spain and even the Spanish natives of he day adapted to which group was in control. The foot soldiers may have contributed to the Moor appelation and whatever the climate, they were certainly darker than the Spaniards of the day, hence the word Moro.
