Many stars (rock stars) actors/actresses and celeb figures have brushed paths with the law as well. To many of those rappers you mentioned only had problem later into their fame some prior. 2Pac was a ballet dancer(took classes) before he became famous. To equate crime with rappers is just wrong: We could list so many other that have not brushed with law: Eve, the Roots, Common, Tribe Called Quest, Run DMV, LL Cool J
Maybe it was ex RAPPER Marky Mark aka Mark Walberg that started it. before Him I never saw a black rapper sagging or showing underwear, Marky Mark pushed it further when he became a Calvin Klein model.

By "worry", I mean that every time I see them I just have the urge to pull those pants up to the waist and secure them so tightly with the belt that it constricts blood flow Seeing that fashion statement is like viewing someone with many hairs out of place or his/her shoelaces untied! |
When I was much younger I worked in a MailCenter/Shipping dept and there was this Puerto Rican kid who wore his pants sagging. All the black people he came across that worked there got on him about it. One day this white dude the PR kid and I were the only one in a sorting area and the PR kid was standing high on a skiff gathering books in his hand, when he stood up with a load of books in his hand and the white dude came behind him and pulled the kids pants down. It was the funniest thing, the kids had this wild embarrassed look on his face, it took him forever to figure out what to do... pants around his ankles boxers standing on a skiff with a tone of books in his hand.

Many of the junior-high age boys wanted to swim with basketball shorts low enough to reveal 3 or more inches of boxer shorts. It was against the rules not to wear proper swimming attire in the pool. So since the boxer shorts thing was getting out of hand, the rule was enforced.
There are several bi-racial children. No one cares what color anyone is. We had a Chinese couple (from China) with a 12 year-old son who had a difficult time speaking English. The wife said she had an easier time understanding the white people that the black people. I am a white lady. One thing I never permitted was any racial derogatory comments. We really all did get along! |
I hope so, it is a 'style fad' so I'm assuming it will. The look is a bit different. But around the same time the hip hop kids were sagging, the goth grunge and skate boarders were wearing really big pants that sagged as well, they look like very large bell bottomed jeans. |

In other words the belt will still be on the waist, maybe just a little below, and immediately after that have the boxershorts look; after that another belt- look below the shorts. This way a guy can still have the baggy-look and show fake shorts; to which my brother-in-law quipped: The idea Andrew is to show real shorts. We both had a laugh at that one.
I guess what I'm saying is I don't believe all young men want to actually show their undies but they do want to fit in.
Besides, I sure would hate to be the neighbor's kid if he had to run from a dog. |
Hip Huggers? That used to be a 60's fashion, brought back. Prince & the Revolution styled them during his Parade album 1986. A lot of girls where hip huggers, Britney Spears is known for wearing them so short the top of the pants is right about her ________

They like to show off their love handles.
Looking around campus I realized that most people I see wear their pants slightly sagging. Not so bad that they're waddling like penguins to hold them up, but that they went a few sizes bigger than they were really meant for. All pants are baggy, with the rare emo-ish exception.
Hip huggers are here to stay. I don't own a pair of pants that don't settle on my hips. People with waist high jeans/pants really didn't look that great
With luv,
