New Members, Please Read This.

You need not join the group in order to read the discussions. All forums are open to the public. But if you want to contribute then you must first join the group and be granted posting privileges. This entails four steps:

1. First, you must register. Click on the link Register, which can be found at the top center of any screen. Affirm that you are at least 13 years old, and then fill in the requested userID, password, and e-mail address. Be sure to fill in a valid e-mail address. This will cause an e-mail to be sent to you for your membership activation. Until you click on the activation link in the e-mail sent to you, your membership will remain inactive for 7 days, after which it will be erased.

2. Second, click on the activation link in the email sent to you. This will activate your membership, allowing you to post into this forum (Site Management) but no other.

(Obviously, this step cannot happen if you wrote in an invalid e-mail address when you registered, or if your email server rejects mail from this discussion group. In such a case, you will never receive the activation e-mail, and your inactive membership will be erased 7 days later. It is important to understand this. If we cannot reach you by email, for any reason, even if through no fault of your own, you cannot become a member.

3. Third, introduce yourself by posting a message at the bottom of this very thread. You need not reveal personal information. This step is simply to ensure that you are a human being, and not an automated board-joining computer program.

Incidentally, if you never submit a first message introducing yourself, your membership will be automatically deleted after one month. Again, if you never post a self-introduction message, your membership will be automatically deleted after one month.

4. Finally, wait until you are notified that you have automatically been granted posting privileges. This will let you post to every forum except "Women Only." Normally this step takes only a few hours. If it takes longer, or if you get impatient, please send a private message to fwsweet or email postmaster@thestudyofracialism.org.

For a pleasant and informative experience, you should read the following link before posting to any of the discussion forums except this one.

Posting Rules
We strongly recommend that you read the above link before you start posting. You may skip it if you only lurk. It tells:
- What you must do in order to preserve your posting privilege.
- What content will cause your message to be challenged by a moderator.
- What behavior will cause your posting privilege to be suspended.
- What you should do when your posting privilege is suspended.

Here is an interesting link showing some site statistics.

De-register me, if you please. And if possible, remove any and all posts under the name "sweetsister".

You are now "de-registered." Thanks for visiting. If you wish to return, simply register yourself again. I cannot remove all of your posts, because many of them started or contributed to threads that would thereby become unintelligible.

Hello,
My name's Marie and I am new here. I came upon the site while doing research for an English 102 class. I am writing a paper on Indian pre-history. I found the posts on this topic very interesting, and they also seemed knowledgable and fair. I'm not sure that I am able to contribute much to the discussions. I got my GED back in 2000, I entered college this year and I am in my 3rd semester. I have almost no knowledge of history, as I dropped out of high school in the ninth grade. I am not only interested in this site for the discussion on the Dravidian-Aryan conflict, I also found it to be a great way to get familiar with the "proper" way to present opinions and evidence. I will most likely be asking some questions, and once in a while attempt to participate in discussions when I feel capable. I hope to be able to learn here.
Marie

Hi Marie and welcome!!! I see you really have a desire to learn. This is one of the most educated, technical discussion boards on the internet in my opinion. Do not be intimidated. Please ask questions, I know you will be able to contribute. You will be treated with respect.

Again, welcome, and best of luck in your educational endeavors!!!

Hi,

I'd like to join the women only site too. I'm a middle aged mother of three who found out about fifteen years ago that my mother passed for white. I'm also a writer and have been doing research into prejudice and racial bigotry and ran across this site.

I started a LiveJournal community (of one so far) about my experiences at http://community.livejournal.com/vanilla_oreos/

Thanks for your time.

Hi, Kalima. I authorized you all the forums except MixedMom's private group. She should be along shortly to add you to her forum. If you do not get in by tomorrow (if she is out of town or something), just let me know and I will override the setting to let you in. In the meantime, feel free to post in the other forums.

Again, welcome.

Sorry about that Kalima, I didn't spend a lot of time online yesterday (5/10/07). Welcome to the Women's Only forum! Happy posting.

Frank, what if you deleted my account and I re-apply using the same name, would that cure this? I went to ''security'' and dealt with a ''cookie'' issue but nothing works.

You're in as "Yggdrasil". Let me know if you prefer to use the "DickMiller" user-id instead. I would be happy to enable that one instead, if you wish.

Well, anything is worth trying, but I would also suggest trying a different computer, if you can borrow one just for the experiment.

That's a toughie. What I will continue to do, after discovering another problem yesterday, is just cut-and-paste the intended post then submit. This way I'll know I have a backup in case the computer demon decides to delete when I hit the submit button. Deletion happened yesterday, but not this morning. An inconvenience yes, but not a deterrent.

This pc had been acting strange recently. Maybe six years old is too much for it.
