Is anyone here a member of Second Life? I am thinking of opening a bookstore on Book Island.

I have opened a small bookstore in Second Life. Please visit when you get a chance. Second Life is free to join.

In the next few weeks (as soon as I have tested the VOIP) Mary Lee and I will be hosting events there.

We plan to hold a weekly live voice-chat discussion. It will differ from this venue here, in that participants will be face-to-face (so to speak) and it will be live voices rather than typing. Each participant must have a microphone and speakers (or earphones) plugged into his/her computer.

Also, we hope to host a weekly open mic evening, where each paricipant gets to perform ten minutes' of live music, poetry, story-telling, lecture, or whatever--again using VOIP with a mic at each participant's computer. Since everyone gets to hear everyone else live, I expect that sing-alongs will be popular. If we can set it up soon enough, we could start with a couple of hours of Christmas carols.
