Hypothetical question: how do you think people will perceive modern day humans 30,000 years from now? Of course you can't give me definite answers, but do you think they'll qualify all of the (racial) skeletal types as being all the same species? I ask this question given what i've read about neanderthals "that they were some 99.5 - 99.9% identical to modern humans. I don't know, kinda makes me wonder what criteria something must meet to be classified as a separate species, and also how it's different from the term "race."

Another question, if Neanderthals for some reason still existed today, would they be considered a separate species, or would it be some more politically correct term? Maybe I should look up the differences between Neanderthal and modern human skeletons.

Questions like this appeal to my inner Sci-Fi Geek, and it is difficult to come to simply one conclusion, since I have given this some thought but this assumption I am able to produce based on current technology.

When factoring in groups like the WTA (World Transhumanist Association) and the time span of a couple hundred to 30,000 years, there will most definitely be different races here on earth. I am thinking Gattaca but since we are talking of more than a couple hundred years in the future I see three races on earth.

As scientists are more able to manipulate the human genome the greater the situation will be for designer off spring. There isn't anyway to predict every trait parents would want to embody their children, but over a couple hundred years I believe that three races will be on the earth.

The first would be based in mans obsession with athletics. Genes for height and muscle growth with a lack of body fat will be desired to such a high degree that within a couple hundred years of this continuous manipulation that a giant race will emerge. Their skeletons will be the most obvious since they will measure anywhere from 7'2 to perhaps 9' or beyond (and that applies to men and women). These will be the professional athletes, military/police desirables or any profession requiring a strong physical presence.

The next would be based in the realm of the brainiacs. When I think of human evolution this is the race I think of the most and their evolution would probably take the longest maybe about 400 to a 1000 years from now. Their brains will be modified to such a great extent that they will become human asexual, autotrophs composed mostly of energy with high metahuman ability. Their skeletal remains would best be described as very very soft skeletal tissue since the bulk of their sustenance is based on energy and not food consumption which would nourish their skeletal system. These people I feel will be the heads of governments, scientists, professors and doctors. They would live hundreds of years.

(Powder is the best example of this race, and with 400 years evolution under their belt who knows what they would become)

The last race in my opinion would be the vast majority of the human population, regular people the most identical to our present date skeletal state with certain modifications. These are the people who came from families too poor to afford genetic enhancement for their children. They hold the menial positions that cannot be done by machines. Their existence is much better than a third world nation, but very anti-climatic with little hope of being more than their parents due to having less specialized genetics. There will of course be black market HGH to increase height and muscle mass and brain capacity, but just like today there are side effects and deadly consequences in terms of overdosing when taking drugs that are not properly tested.
