No one is cherry picking here. One of the purposes for this post is to show the wide range of looks.

Please start from the beginning, look at the various images posted of Jewish people and you will retract your statement.

Thanks
uh no, those in the begining where European jews, the cherry picking i was refering to was representing all Non-European jews as dark "and no diffrent from Arabs(palestinians i assume)" but on average very few Jews look palestinian(because palestinians are mostly of bedouin origin)

Nice work cherry picking by choosing teimanim(yemenites) who are the darkest Mainstream Jews, and also have the Highest level of Arabian acnestry because of the large number of Converts in PreIslamic Arabia,

that being said you can still find Yemenis that look like any other Sephardic/Mizrahi Jew and even Ashkenazim

not I did not cherry pick, I could have chossen blue eyed morrocans like Gad Elameh or Shlomo ben izri, Or even better Blond Spanish-Morrocans from Ceuta or Melila but I didn't I chose the average.

And these people look no different from other Middle Eastern people who are non-Jewish. You could smack a kufi on them and they'd look like many Levantine Arab Muslims.

Those who posted those pics were doing so to show that there are Jews who are "dark", but not to prove that most Israelis are dark (like Arabs). Here in the U.S. there is a tendency, which I find annoying, to see all Jews in Israel as being some kind of European transplant, and the only non-European Jews are from Ethiopia. The pics were an attempt to show the "diversity" of Jewish looks in Israel.

again you miss the point, of course they look levantine,so do alot of European Jews, but by "arab" i mean what is arab to israelis Palestinians & bedouins, which look on average quite different. Second of all a kufi is an african yarmulke so putting it on the is not going to make them look Arab, The word you are looking for Is Taqeyah or in Syrian arabic Ta'eya, and No it wont make them look Arabic because Taqeyas and Kippot (yarmulkes) are indistinguishable most of the time

although i do get kind of sick of People saying Es-Salaamu 3aleikum to me,maybe one day il respond Shalom 3aleikhem instead of my usual "Im not muslim"
For the record I look something like this
complete with Na nach kipa, I usually prefer those kipot because those lil tiny Israeli ones are actually not halichacly kosher(because they are supoused to be visible from all Angles) and the Black velvet ones clash with my clothes

Ps checkout this store and you will see how ta'eyas and kippot are the same

http://www.israel-gifts-flowers.com/art-judaica/products.asp?category_id=32

in fact you will often see a kipa sold as a ta'eya and a ta'eya sold as a kipa in different sites, the same exact ones!

Those in the beginning are American Jews
And we only posted a few pictures, your making more of this than was intended. We are dealing with perceptions of what a Jew looks like-especially from an American mindset. Someone in the SW may have a totally different idea than someone in NYC. We were/are just posting information about the diversity of looks. Just take it as that and don't get offended. Your applying motive to individuals, and that's the wrong part.

The point of this thread was to show the diversity of looks among Jews. My point was to show that many of them in Israel look like many other Middle Eastern people, not that all Jews look like all Arabs or all Palestinians. To us in the U.S. there is still this belief that all Jews in Israel are European in origin and look significantly different (European) from all the non-Jews in neighboring countries. Naturally this has nothing to do with how they perceive themselves racially or how Arab and Jew see each other in relation to each other.

I have moved this thread from "Molecular Anthropology" because it has no mention of DNA.
