This isn't exactly a new story, but maybe some of you haven't heard about it. I thought it was somewhat interesting.

RocknRolla star Thandie Newton has said she used to feel “bitter” towards Oscar winner Halle Berry.

Thandie Newton has said she once felt “bitter” towards fellow actress Halle Berry as the pair often competed for film roles. "It is so different than 10 years ago. "Back then I was the only black actress in England working in American movies,” Showbiz Spy quote Thandie saying. “Me and Halle Berry were always going up for the same roles. I used to be quite bitter about it. Then it occurred to me that we really need to put more positive energy into it. I think it's a very innocent thing. A lot of people that are writing the material don't have any black friends so they just don’t think about it. It's like writers just need to be constantly reminded that these characters could be multiracial."

I guess I fall under one of those people that had no idea of this bitterness. But I am not too surprised, however I have been more impressed with Thandie Newton's acting ability over her looks and more impressed with Halle Barry's looks over her acting ability.

I read the actual quote of what Thandie Newton said a couple of times just now and I DON'T think she was saying she harbored bitterness toward Halle Berry, as this piece suggests. It sounds to me like she was bitter that she and Halle, both being half White, were constantly vying for the same "Black" roles. Otherwise, why did she say...

Am I the only one seeing it that way? I think whoever said she felt bitter TOWARD Halle misunderstood what she was getting at.

I agree, she was bitter toward the experience, not Halle
