created by Marvin T. Jones, historian of a mixed race community in Hertford County, NC that has lived in the same area since the mid-18th century. The historical lecture/drama described on Marvin's website took place last weekend, and I wrote a blog

Last November I became a consultant to the board of the Melungeon Heritage Association, in which capacity I have invited Marvin to be a presenter at the 2009 MHA Union, which he agreed to do. Arwin Smallwood, Ph.D. has also agreed to speak at the Union about his Tuscarora Project, exploring the diaspora of the northeast NC tribe which tried to exterminate white settlers in the early 18thc:
