I thought that great scientist Al Gore invented the internet... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Really, the internet actually goes back to the late 1960s and early 70s. The US Department of Defense was key in its development and its primary developmental purpose was for the military. While Dr. Emeagwali might have contributed some key aspects as it was further developed, I think it's a strectch to say he was the "father of the internet", granted he had more to do with the internet than Al Gore did!!!!

father of the internet can mean anything , it can mean one father of the internet. I know the other father's, like Tim-Burners Lee who gets more credit for the internet. What the hell? Al Gore is a politician, lol. Dr. Emeagwali contributed the Supercomputer that brought on the internet. Go on his website at this link and see what he says about it

http://emeagwali.com/speeches/future/internet/index.html

'He dismisses the common notion that the Internet evolved out of the security needs of the U.S. defense establishment. For him, it was about finding ways for scientists to access remote supercomputers, the colossal calculators housed in scientific and military labs.'

By the way how stupid is America to put Martin Luther King on the 100 Most Greatest Africans. That's just fucking hilarious , excuse my language.

On one hand, this is a ridiculous statement. America put King on this list, or was it Pan Africanists from America?? On the other hand, I agree with it. Please refrain from vulgar language here. Thank you.

Quote:
Last year, he placed 35th among 100 greatest Africans ever in a poll by New African magazine. The list is topped by Nelson Mandela and includes Martin Luther King, Kofi Annan and Bob Marley.

New African magazine does not sound like "America" to me, even if it's an American based magazine. You should try to be more precise in the way you describe things, just a suggestion. America to me and most people would either be the Federal government and/or a poll of the American people in each geography. But that's just me.

This statement is a more accurate description of Emeagwali:

Quote:
He has been called one of the "fathers of the Internet," alongside pioneers such as Tim Berners-Lee and Vint Cerf.

Yes, and that statement, comes directly from his website. Thankyou, for that.
