Nandy McLean (L) and Maya McLean of The Twinz, Prince's backup singers and dancers,

The Twinz”, Maya and Nandy McClean were born in Sydney, and grew up in rural NSW, Australia. As young girls, they always had a strong interest in music, dance and the performing arts.

In their teens, they moved to Sydney to study performance, dance, singing and acting. In their early careers, The Twinz starred in Australian fashion shows, commercials, TV shows, movies and video clips and also had roles in Moulin Rouge!, The Son of the Mask and the Sydney production of The Lion King musical. They have worked together on almost every single gig.

In 2006, The Twinz moved to the United States, where they auditioned for Prince’s “Fury” video, and were immediately hired to work alongside Prince, in a dancing, choreographing and singing role. They featured in Prince’s 3121 shows at Las Vegas and LA, and 21 Nights at the 02 Arena, London.

The incredible list of performances The Twinz have done with Prince include: the amazing 2007 Superbowl Halftime Show, TV and award shows including American Idol, BET Awards, Brit Awards, Saturday Night Live, ALMA awards, and after parties for the Grammys, Golden Globe, Emmy and Oscar Awards. The Twinz sang on Prince’s “Planet Earth” album and starred in Prince’s video clips – “Fury” and the Verizon Wireless “Guitar” Commercial. The Twinz also acted as Prince’s spokeswomen and were interviewed for Fox 5 News and KLUC Radio.

The Twinz have also featured in Flaunt Magazine in a special photo shoot and Dance Spirit Magazine.

More recently, The Twinz have performed with Chris Brown at the 2008 BET Awards and have roles in the upcoming movie, “Surfer Dude” starring Matthew McConaughey, due for release in September.

The Twinz are tirelessly dedicated to their craft, and this is evident in all their performances, whether it be dancing, singing or acting. The Twinz also write and record their own music, which we here at The Twinz Fansite can’t wait to hear!
