*Bridges at Macalester College is proud to announce The 11th Annual
National Student Conference on the Mixed Race Experience: Looking into
the Mixed Race Mirror*
March 23-25, 2007
Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota
The theme for the conference, "Looking into the Mixed Race Mirror" will be
an examination of the effects of media portrayals of mixed-race people on
individuals. Programming will include panels focused on questioning the
idea of a monolithic mixed-race identity by incorporating the roles of
religious and sexual identity.
The conference will kick off Friday March 23rd with a registration reception
and a bone marrow donor drive. That night there will be a bone marrow drive
which will be facilitated with help from Mavin's MatchMaker project,
followed by an open mic night for conference attendees. Saturday and Sunday
will be chock-full of panels, paper readings, keynote speeches, and overall
fun times.
We're also having a call for proposals. If you'd be interested in
contributing to the conference -- in any medium -- please look at the site (
www.macalester. edu/bridges) for further details. We look forward to seeing
you in Minnesota this spring!
